God, for killing Eartha Kitt… on CHRISTMAS!

Geez God, what the hell? Did you have to kill Eartha Kitt on Christmas? Is it because she sang about your arch-rival Santa Claus in the amazing “Santa Baby”? Man, take a day off from all the killing and enjoy your son’s birthday.

Eartha Kitt was my favorite Catwoman, hands down and “Santa Baby” is in my top 10 Christmas songs of all time. Eartha Kitt was awesome. She passed away from colon cancer in her Connecticut home at age 81.

This is the worst Christmas since God snatched away drunken Dean Martin thirteen years ago. Eartha Kitt had more stage presence than anybody I’d ever seen perform live. I saw her in a small cabaret, a Chicago theater, and an orchestra hall, and she was a sensation every time. She was without a doubt the most feline and fun of all the Catwomen. And what a life: consorting with Orson Welles as his craziest creative peak, getting blacklisted for turning a Lady Bird White House luncheon into an attack on the Vietnam War, and maintaining a career and a persona right into her eighties. I can say she could still give a Rockette a run for her money with a straight kick out of the slit of her gowns, even as an octogenarian. If anyone has ever seen Pam Grier in Friday Foster, you’ll appreciate Eartha Kitt’s screen presence as well. Her death scene alone lasts about ten minutes and will leave you begging for more. Right now I’d like to envision her reunited with Sammy Davis, Jr. doing another wild, boozy mambo as immortalized in Anna Lucasta. One of the true greats!

Paul, thanks for the great comment. I was in a bit of a hurry when I wrote my post last night and knew I was unfairly breezing past her entire career. So thanks for adding some much needed content.

p.s. I would also like to mention that God killed my fish last night! It was obviously in retaliation for this post. Looks like I’m in a full blown mob war with God and his cronies! BRING IT!

Man…she was just picked as one of the hottest women ever this week on AOL. Her catwoman was sinfully delicious with a sexy feline sensuality that Halle could not capture.

She is absolutely adorable and sweet. Lovely, lovely voice. I hope she’s living out her best days in heaven.

Eartha Kitt was and will continue to be a legend. I just found out that she starred in the Emperor’s New Groove, how funny
