    “hipspanics” priceless

I read a Rollingstone article a few years back about this huge Morrisy following of Hispanic kids in Souther California. How does that happen? I guess angst and sexual ambiguity is cross cultural

Yeah, I know all about his Hispanic following. His Hispanic fans are not being ironic though, they worship him. Me too, he rules.

They crack me up… We like to go down to the Mission District and watch the hipsters do whatever it is they do or don’t do every day/night. They are quite the spectacle, most of the time. So dramatic & stylish!

Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.

I don’t know of these people. Is it because Boston is the least-hip, least-trendy place in the world? I mean, we are truly flush with nerds. Nerds and Dansko clogs. That’s all we’ve got.

    Myself included.

black kids around my neighborhood are starting to look like the kids(emo/hipsters) we use to poke fun at. what is the world coming to!!!!

  10. hodanon 22 Apr 2009 at 11:35 am

Creature you’re Bostonian too?! i hardly every see nerds, you must be in the wrong neighborhood. all the hipster scum are in the Common and state street.

  11. CreatureofHabiton 22 Apr 2009 at 12:22 pm

I’m in Cambridge, near MIT. Nerds galore!!!

  12. hodanon 22 Apr 2009 at 12:26 pm

AHAHAHA i figured.we don’t get much nerds in downtown.

  13. SanFranon 22 Apr 2009 at 12:32 pm

Creature: yeah, you’re in the wrong part of town.. Although, Central Sq. is seems to have the potential for the Hipster – they seem to like to hang out, at least part-time, in neighborhoods where they can “fit in” as they struggle to look downtrodden and poor, with nothing to wear save for the mismatched stuff from goodwill.

I’ve witnessed here in San Francisco – a group of emaciated Hipsters, so obviously poverty-stricken, leaving their stoop at 16th and Mission, moping back to their car – a Mercedes M-Class.

    Fuck them.

Central square has no hipsters, Cambridge in general has no hipsters. Somerville does, especially Union Square (stupid Bike Hipsters). What CenSq does have is lots of hobos and nerds that want to be cool but are still, sadly, nerdy. They can’t fool me.

I went to a concert last weekend, my first since living here, and I have to say – looking around at the crowd: #1, Boston is NOT a good-looking town in general. And #2, Bostonians are really, really, REALLY not into appearances or trends. I mean, if I’M noticing this situation, that really says something cuz I’m a jeans-n-tshirts kind of gal. The guy sitting 2 seats over showed up in dirty sweat pants and a stained t-shirt, and he was about 100 pounds overweight and hadn’t showered in days. Another guy on my right looked like he’d stumbled in from the bleachers at Fenway, post game, with his friends. I mean, what is going on here? I tell you, it’s confusing.

I’m never moving. It’s good for my confidence. I’m as plain and nerdy as they come but I feel like a rockstar here. 😉

This is an ironic post considering 80stees.com is a sponsor.

wow, creature. what concert was that that brought out the people who still live in the basements of their mother’s homes? and i have no idea what you’re talking about, i think you’re gorgeous (i don’t mean that in a “making a pass” at you kind of way).

i’m oblivious to all of this. i’m a “mom clothes” kind of gal, full on “mom butt” jeans and sweatshirts. the only reason i noticed today was due to this post. i was at the park with my son and saw a kid dressed just like one of the winners in the photo. thanks for bringing a little culture to me, listy.

There’s nothing like this in Ottawa, because nobody is that cool. Oh, and don’t EVER go to any concert in Ottawa, unless you enjoy getting bitched at for doing concert things (e.g. standing up, yelling, moshing, being really drunk, etc.). Go to Montreal instead.

No on hates ironic hipsters more than ironic hipsters.

    Which is, of course, ironic.

Eric – You just blew my FUCKING MIND!
