People who make political decisions based on TV ads!

I keep hearing this week that John McCain has been getting better poll numbers and it is attributed to his attack ads. That’s great, way to go America! If laziness could be turned into oil we would be set for life.

“Barack Obama hates the troops, the TV box told me so. My research is done, let’s go to Wal-Mart!”

You know what, not a single political commercial should ever be watched, it is utterly pointless. What are you going to learn about a candidate in 30 or 60 seconds? You are going to learn that one guy has a dog and hangs out with hardworking Americans and the other guy looks evil in photos and uses the flag as toilet paper. Why are we so inclined to be stupid and lazy when it comes to important decisions? People put more mental energy into deciding where to eat lunch every day.

And what’s the fucking deal with John McCain and his fear mongering and spewing of misinformation. I guess I thought he was above that brand of gutter politics. I’m sorry but there is nothing LESS American than misleading the American people for political gain. Aren’t we all sick of being chin-deep in bullshit by now?

As Americans we all lose when we allow ourselves to be manipulated by political propaganda machines, right or left. We can’t afford to fuck this election up and if you are basing your decision for President on 30 second commercials I kindly ask you to punch yourself in your balls and/or vagina.

I agree, political ads are ridiculous and terrible sources of information…but let’s be fair, Barack Obama is just as guilty of putting out misleading and unfair political ads as John McCain is. People are just afraid to criticize him because all of his sycophants are likely to physically attack you while chanting “YES WE CAN” as they do it.

i agree, im in the UK and we never have any adverts like that, no party really abuses another to gain a few votes, its all about policys and what they will do with our taxes.

also we have something called a Party political braodcast which most people turn over as soon as they come on, but if you can be bothered to watch or you have lost your remote and cant me arsed to get off the sofa and change the channel then you will find them really informative

most last about 10-15 minutes and can give you a good idea of the way the party is going

dc99, I honestly have to disagree with your statement about Obama putting out misleading ads. Maybe they exist but I have not seen them. I am not one of those people who blindly goes along with a particular party and I am happy to criticize the left or the right when it is warranted.

I have to say though, I do not think it is possible to say Obama’s campaign is anywhere NEAR as negative as McCain’s. John McCain’s comments and ads have been ridiculous. Comparing Obama to Paris Hilton? Give me a fucking break! He’s desperate and I guess just like Bush he’s willing to do or say anything. That is not the America I want to live in.

I wish we could all agree to demand more from our politicians but most of us are too lazy. We care more about who Jennifer Aniston is dating.
