PCs!

Published by at 3:29 am under Jerks

I spent most of the night helping my girlfriend (sorry ladies) remove a virus from her PC, so NO POST FOR YOU!

I hate PCs. I hate every single thing about PCs!

Try working in an industrial environment where EVERY FUCKING THING runs on a PIECE OF SHIT PC!!! And lucky me, it’s my job to keep this horseshit running. Ah well, fuck it, it pays good!

  2. Amy Louiseon 26 Oct 2010 at 5:53 am

    agreed

  3. Jeffon 26 Oct 2010 at 7:13 am

Not everyone designs flash websites and ironic t-shirts – so the world needs PCs.

Macs are for girls and overly sensitive men, anyway.

  4. You Just Made My List!on 26 Oct 2010 at 8:31 am

Jim – Your life sounds like my worst nightmare.

Jeff – Come on, who do you think you are dealing with here? You think I’m going to take that bait? Rookie move Jeff.

  5. Jeffon 26 Oct 2010 at 8:59 am

Ah c’mon – we know you totally wear a black turtleneck, pressed jeans and wire framed glasses to work – with a little 5 o’clock shadow to show how ‘different’ you’re going to think. Fanboy!

  6. You Just Made My List!on 26 Oct 2010 at 9:00 am

    Jeff – Amateur.

  7. Jeffon 26 Oct 2010 at 9:36 am

Perhaps. But being fussy about what computer you use for web browsing is just a bit last decade.

What’s next – a diatribe about our carbon footprint?

  8. Tommyon 26 Oct 2010 at 10:05 am

I think you mean you hate windows.

  9. SanFranon 26 Oct 2010 at 10:55 am

    Tommy: excellent point.
Jeff: why wouldn’t you want to be fussy about which computer you use for web browsing about carbon footprints?

Windows machines are a necessary evil. Thankfully, I’ve managed to either purchase for, or convince to change over to a Mac, everyone in my family – so no more tech support calls for me.

I have to cross-platform check interactive deliverables for my clients, and Vista damn near put me out of business – I’m glad that partial birth abortion of an OS is now almost extinct.

My closing thought is that most Windows users I know are gamers… and also quick to accuse all Mac users as “playing” all the time – as if to insinuate that playing games is somehow work…

I think it’s apropos that the only software that doesn’t work well on my Mac is MS Word, it can’t even update itself properly.

  11. kenon 26 Oct 2010 at 11:52 am

Jeff- Honestly. Feel free to get viruses, have countless hangups on outdated web browsers and have to follow rigid codes and rules on your PC.

You can drive your ’65 Dodge Dart, I prefer the Porsche.

I hate PCs simply because they make everything 10 times more difficult than necessary and rarely work after the first week of ownership. PC fans TOTALLY get off on how difficult they are so they can pretend it’s War Games and they are hacking into the W.O.P.R.

  13. 8bitheroon 26 Oct 2010 at 12:42 pm

Most people that hate PCs just don’t know enough about computers to use one.

    Think of it like this:

A Mac is a training wheel bike – safe, secure, and no skill needed.

A PC (in the right hands) is a Space Shuttle – powerful and capable of fantastic feats.

They aren’t difficult if you know what you are doing. They don’t have problems with viruses or crashed if you know what you are doing.

The problem is, since they are prevalent and affordable, there are more people that don’t know what they are doing that own them.

Macs? You just paid twice as much (or more) for an inferior machine with a shiny white shell that does half of what I built myself.

  14. 8bitheroon 26 Oct 2010 at 12:47 pm

Above isn’t directed at anybody in particular.

    Just a general observation.

  15. You Just Made My List!on 26 Oct 2010 at 12:54 pm

8bit – You will never convince me that buying something that works WITHOUT having to learn how to operate the Space Shuttle is wrong. I don’t understand this desire to work hard for it.

I have been using computers professionally for almost 20 years now and I know what I’m doing, trust me.

Macs work without headaches, simple as that. With my “inferior machine” I have the ability to record professional studio quality recordings with unlimited tracks, I can create HD/broadcast/film quality 2D and 3D animations, I can edit HD/broadcast/film quality video, I can create posters, books, magazines, billboards, websites with industry standard software, and MUCH more. All this without a single virus since 1984 when I received my first Mac.

This shiny computer earns me a nice chunk of change every year!

  16. 8bitheroon 26 Oct 2010 at 12:57 pm

    Listy

    So can I.

    Virus free.

Because I know what I’m doing and I don’t trust emails that promise a larger penis.

Stupid people gave PCs a bad name.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to email a nice Kenyan man about my inheritance.

  17. You Just Made My List!on 26 Oct 2010 at 1:16 pm

My girlfriend is not stupid, I’m not stupid and we were doing nothing stupid at the time of the attack.

And there’s nothing wrong with good design. Why do you think people still collect things like Art Deco radios? Because they are beautiful.

  18. kenon 26 Oct 2010 at 3:12 pm

8Bit, I get it, it’s a bit of a hobby for you to build and rebuild your PC, I have other hobbies that do not possibly endanger the existence of all my files. I like naming a file whatever I want, I like being able to run ProTools and Avid seamlessly, I like how much faster and better my iTunes runs on a Mac. And yes, like listy, I like the design. Some people think the J. Edgar Hoover Building in D.C. is beautiful, others think the Guggenheim is better.

    Apples/Oranges=Macs/PCs

  19. Tommyon 26 Oct 2010 at 5:35 pm

Just to chime in….I work in places not very far off from space shuttle mission control and what people use for their front end is pretty much irrelevant. IT people like macs. I can build a PC and put some version of linux on it for $500 that is twice as powerful as any mac available. Of course….I don’t do much video editing just physics simulations and data analysis. I’m also a genius. Computers are pretty much all the same to me once I get to the command line. The bottom line is this: macs are superior at one thing….visually appealing software. But that’s only because some geek out there poured his heart in to some code that “makes things pretty” so that it doesn’t take much artistry to produce. Also…he coded it in vi (maybe emacs if he’s a twat).

  20. pimpsonon 27 Oct 2010 at 12:05 am

    I love pc’s.

Because they outnumber macs by a great number worldwide, malicious intent is aimed their way.

Now, once macs start becoming more common, their security will eventually be broken down and the benefits of owning one will diminish.

So, lets keep the pc market alive and well folks. Stop talking about how good your mac is…..

  21. Ericaon 27 Oct 2010 at 12:11 am

Meh…PC’s rule. Paying an extra $1000 for a glowing apple is not appealing to me (pun intended!).

Listy – have you upgraded to Win 7? It is awesome and will solve many of your security issues inherently. Oh and tell your gf to stop browsing hard core porn sites…they are minefields of trojan horses and backdoor santas!!!

  22. calebon 27 Oct 2010 at 8:40 am

this is why i prefer books.

  23. Lawrenceon 27 Oct 2010 at 8:41 am

    Fanboys and fangirls suck taint.

It’s not enough for them to like (insert computer, video game system, smart phone, music genre, orifice, etc…), they actually have to hate anything that is not that what they like.

This PC vs Mac thing is worse than tween girls arguing over Edward or that other feminine cupcake. Reading it is like pure ghonneria for my eyes.

Who gives a shit what you use? Just use the damn thing.

I like Supreme (Yes, that’s capitalized. They’re that good!) flavored pizza rolls. But you don’t see me talking shit to anyone who likes pepperoni and ranting about how the mixture of extra veggies in the Supreme flavored ones are far superior to just pig meat.

I have both PC and a Mac and I use them for different things. My PC is for games, audio recording/editing, and programming. My Mac is for web browsing, design, and web development.

How can I use both you ask? Because I’m not a fucktard who has pledged allegiance to some company who doesn’t really give a shit about what I surf porn with, as long as I’m giving them money. It’s not like your Mac/PC love is going to change anybody’s fuckin’ mind.

So you dumb hoes keep fighting over God damned operating systems. I hope that in the end, your parents will recognize their failure and at some point, you will too and do us all a favor by drinking sand.

  24. Lawrenceon 27 Oct 2010 at 8:43 am

    @caleb

Really? A book? What the fuck does that have to do with this discussion?

Did you post that comment with a book? No. You used a computer you pretentious fuck.

  25. You Just Made My List!on 27 Oct 2010 at 8:48 am

Lawrence – Whoa, let’s slow it down my friend. Take a deep breath. Don’t become the next Pigdoor.

  26. Lawrenceon 27 Oct 2010 at 9:02 am

Sorry about that. I can’t make it through a hump day unless I start with with a tall cup of grain alcohol, 50 push ups, and a handful of aggression.

    Sorry guys. Continue…

  27. calebon 27 Oct 2010 at 10:44 am

Lawrence – i simply meant that i don’t feel the need to have long drawn out arguments about pcs vs. macs because i honestly prefer books to computers. i am not at all offended by other people being really “into” computers – most of my friends have tech jobs.

yes, obviously i USE a computer to surf the web and whatnot, but beyond that i have very little opinion on the matter. which is not to say that reading other peoples opinions on the subject isn’t entertaining and/or interesting.

now, if you want to have a debate about literature over a couple of glasses of grain alcohol i’d be WAY more interested..

  28. Lawrenceon 27 Oct 2010 at 12:03 pm

    @caleb

Yeah, just ignore me. Besides, my buzz is wearing off. I like lightsabers too.

  29. Melissaon 29 Oct 2010 at 6:22 pm

    Nerd fight!

  30. You Just Made My List!on 29 Oct 2010 at 6:52 pm

    Is it turning you on?

  31. spiny normanon 31 Oct 2010 at 4:19 pm

Nothing wrong with PCs if you’re smart enough to use one, the problem is when technophobic or downright stupid people who should be using Macs (which are designed so that even artists can use them) get PCs because they’re cheap. It’s like nerf guns vs real guns.

  32. You Just Made My List!on 31 Oct 2010 at 4:48 pm

Spiny – Pretty much, except the exact opposite of everything you said.

  33. teston 04 Nov 2010 at 12:27 am

    i hate computers

  34. wtfeveron 13 Feb 2011 at 1:46 am

    @test -> awesome.
    Anyways…
I don’t understand feeling emotion for either of these arguments either. As Lawrence said it’s like arguing over flavors, or what color is better than another. I make my living with computers as well, and I own 2 Macs and 3 PC’s, I don’t hate or love any of them more than the others, they all serve their purpose. I wear a jacket on cold days, and a t-shirt on hot days. Hating pc’s for having security vulnerabilities or Macs for having planned obsolescence and the inability to do any complex task is like hating my jacket for being too hot on a hot day, or my t-shirt too cold when it’s snowing, it’s just retarded.
